Our key areas of expertise – mechatronics and
material – enable producers to develop higher added value products and
processes.
We are at the forefront of developing the next generation of production methods,
allowing them to be exploited in new applications.
Mechatronics
Some of the industrial processes developed include:
- IR Non Destructive Tests – development include the inspection of injection
moulded plastic parts to check the integrity of the parts,
- Ultrasonic gas level measurement – development include the calculation of the
tare of gas pressure cylinders on an inline and real time process before getting
them filled.
Our mechatronics team can also boasts core competencies in the following:
- Novel electrostatic device – for cleaning house hold dusts,
- Novel self-emergency device – based on MEMS (gyroscope and accelerometer) and
GSM/GPRS technology for locating people suffering of dementia when those get
lost,
- Novel building intelligent sensors – based on wireless communication (zigbee)
for minimizing the energy consumption in building.
Material
Our material consultancy spans both product and process development, with our
core skills focused on the development of material processing techniques, which
can then be applied to enhancing the value of material based products. Some of
the key areas where DII has made ground breaking progress are:
- Development of EMI Shielding gasket – based of a compounding of Carbo Nano
Tubes and polymer enabling an “Easy to Mount” of EMC Cable Seal,
- Development of a new gas cylinder manufacturing process – enabling a low cost,
light weight application tailored fire suppression system.
Besides to these two projects, further consultancy work will be coming soon with
the textile company Gabriel A/S with whom an innovation center has been created.
As a constituted not-for-profit research organisation limited by guarantee, we
also selectively choose to co-invest with industry to help build techno-economic
feasibility studies and it is our policy to not hold intellectual property.
