The Danish Innovation Institute (DII) is part
of a not-for-profit Research & Technology Development Group employing 550
scientist and engineers, and containing nine individual institutes, each with a
specific technological specialism and competence.
At DII we believe that mechatronic products play a pivotal role in determining
and improving economic performance and the quality of life. The majority of our
research is in five key sectors:
- Health
- Energy
- Production
- Communications
- Consumer Goods
Our researchers cover the full breadth of scientific disciplines from applied
mathematicians and physicists, to materials engineers and chemists. We use our
expertise to build scientific knowledge in the following areas:
- Composition and microstructure – to understand the roles they play in
determining the behaviour of materials
- Physics phenomena – to reveal underlying physical mechanisms and properties
- Mathematical
modelling – to describe systems’ behaviour
- Digital Signal Processing – to interpret data from different sort of sensors (IR,
ultrasonic, gyroscope, accelerometer, etc.)
- Wireless communication – to build up reliable network
- Software development – to create graphical user interface to interact with
systems
